Factory Automation Systems UK
Connect your production line with factory automation designed around your products, people and target output. CCL brings conveyor engineering, PLC controls and system integration together from our Loughborough base.
From a single handling bottleneck to a complete automated line, we help define the scope, design and build the equipment, and plan installation and ongoing support. Tell us what slows your process down.
Automation Built Around Your Production
Production line automation starts with a measurable brief. Tell us your current output, target good products per hour, product sizes and weights, and where stoppages or repeated manual handling occur. Include product variations, changeover frequency and any cleaning requirements.
CCL combines conveyor systems, control panels and PLC integration, and robotic systems integration. We assess transfers, accumulation, product presentation and operator access together, so each machine works as part of the production flow.
For existing lines, share the layout, available machine-interface information, utilities and permitted installation windows. Identify what must stay operational during the change. For robotic handling, include how products arrive, the required pick orientation and any restrictions on gripping or product contact.
Agree acceptance criteria before manufacture: representative products, target throughput, test duration, changeovers and recovery after a stoppage. Factory and site testing, operator training, documentation and aftercare should be defined in the project scope.
No complete specification yet? Send your layout or describe the bottleneck and we can help define the next step.
Factory Automation Systems and Integration
Factory automation works best when handling equipment, machine controls and operator interfaces are designed together. CCL helps bring these elements into a coordinated system, with the final specification agreed around your process.
Conveyors and Product Flow
Move products between production, inspection, packing and dispatch. Belt and roller conveyors, transfers and accumulation can be configured around product size, weight, orientation and available space.
PLC Controls and Operator Interfaces
Coordinate equipment sequences and give operators a clear view of line status. Controls planning covers machine interfaces, sensors, operating modes and the information needed to run and maintain the system.
Robotic Handling and Palletising
Consider pick-and-place or palletising for repetitive handling tasks. Product presentation, tooling, cycle time and access all need to be assessed together before a solution is selected.
Integration with Existing Equipment
New automation often needs to work with machinery already on site. We discuss upstream and downstream interfaces, layout constraints and installation requirements as part of defining the project.

Industry Applications
Factory automation requirements vary by product and working environment. The starting point is a clear brief: what needs to move, where it needs to go, and how the new equipment should work with the rest of the process.
We discuss the practical handling and integration requirements of each application:
Manufacturing
Link workstations and machines to support a consistent production flow. Conveyors, transfers and accumulation can reduce repeated manual handling and help manage differences in machine cycle times. Product orientation, operator access and changeovers are part of the design conversation.
Food and Beverage
Plan movement between processing, packing and end-of-line operations. Product contact, cleaning methods, washdown conditions and material selection need to be defined early so the handling system suits the application.
Retail and E-commerce
Connect packing, sorting and dispatch areas with handling equipment suited to the parcel and carton mix. Throughput, peak demand, available floor space and interfaces with existing operations help determine the layout and control strategy.
Healthcare and Pharmaceutical
Discuss controlled product movement, repeatable positioning and the interfaces needed for inspection or traceability. Any validation, documentation or sector-specific requirements should be agreed as part of the project specification.
Why Choose Central Conveyors
CCL brings design, manufacture and system integration together from our Loughborough base, supporting factory automation projects across the UK.
Our in-house project, design and engineering teams work from an agreed brief. We consider the equipment layout, product handling and machine interfaces together, so the proposed system reflects the way your operation needs to run.
Installation planning, commissioning and handover are part of the project discussion. We agree the testing, documentation and support requirements with you, including the information your operators and maintenance team need.
Start with a layout or a description of the bottleneck. We can help turn that initial requirement into a defined scope for the next stage of your project.

Plan Your Factory Automation Project
Tell us what you need to improve, your product sizes and weights, target output and site location. Include any layout, existing machine interfaces and preferred timing. No full specification yet? Send what you know—we’ll help define the next steps.
